Airplane mode disables your phone’s cellular radio, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connection, basically all the wireless transmission functions. The purpose of airplane mode is to ensure your phone’s transmissions don’t interfere with vital equipment that helps the airplane operate safely.
When you active airplane mode your phone won’t automatically check your email or other common background features. In airplane mode, your phone even stops communicating with cell towers. This means it won’t ping the tower to update incoming text messages or even sending new ones from your end.
You can activate airplane mode under “settings”. When airplane mode is enabled, you’ll often see an airplane icon in your device’s notification bar, which is usually in the top bar of your phone. I have an iPhone 10 max. In my case, the airplane mode notification is at the top right, just to the left of the charge bar.
So the hack in question is, if you turn on airplane mode while charging your phone, it will help your phone charge faster.
Is it true? It actually is. This cell phone hack is legit! The reason behind this is simple … because your phone isn’t busy doing all the normal functions like checking your emails or updating any incoming text messages or checking for software updates, your phone will charge faster.
I did some tests with my iPhone 10 which was at 20% battery life. It took about 3 and a half hours to charge my phone. The next time my phone was down to 20% battery life, I turned on airplane mode and charged it again. This time it charged in about 3 hours, saving me almost half an hour.
Sure not a huge saving of time, but it wasn’t bad and it did confirm that the phone charged faster in airplane mode, so we can consider this hack fact-checked.
